What is a Climbing Tower?
A Climbing Tower
is a tool that many occupational therapists use to address issues
revolving around the vestibular system, visual processing, and proprioception. These swings
are perfect for use in the home and therapy
clinic and for most people theses
are used as the very foundation for Occupational
Therapy.
Here at Affordable
Therapy Solutions we strive to produce the best Climbing Towers we can they are very durable and can hold up to 250lbs.
The Climbing Tower is designed to provide a safe place for your child to build strength and hand eye coordination by giving them a place to climb up and down.
Who uses them?
These Climbing Towers
used to be exclusively available to Therapy
Clinics and Occupational Therapists
due to the high cost and limited availability.
This is no longer the case and we highly encourage the use of it in the home because it’s a great
tool that can be used for self-calming and can encourage communication.
Our Climbing Tower
is a great tool to stimulate various
systems in our bodies that they are used to treat many different disorders such
as Autism, ADHD, Asperger’s, and Sensory Integration Disorder.
How should I use them?
The Affordable Therapy Solutions Climbing Tower
should be used with Adult supervision.
You will want to start by having the child grab onto the tower and begin
by placing a foot on the bottom and beginning to work their way up and down the
tower. It is only secured at the top so
the bottom will move forcing whoever is climbing it to compensate.
As mentioned before communication
can better be developed by periodically stopping the climbing and asking them
if they want to continue. Since it is an enjoyable event they will be more
inclined to find a way to communicate
verbally or non-verbally.
