What is a Pirate Climb?
A Pirate Climb is
a tool that many occupational therapists use to address issues
revolving around the vestibular system, visual processing, and proprioception. These swings
are perfect for use in the home and therapy
clinic and for most people theses
are used as the very foundation for Occupational
Therapy.
Here at Affordable
Therapy Solutions we strive to produce the best Pirate Climbs we can they are very durable and can hold up to 300lbs. The Pirate
Climb can be hung horizontal or vertical either from the wall or ceiling
and provides a climbing surface for
your child. It’s a safe place for them
to better develop strength and balance.
Who uses them?
These Pirate Climbs
used to be exclusively available to Therapy
Clinics and Occupational Therapists
due to the high cost and limited availability.
This is no longer the case and we highly encourage the use of it in the home because it’s a great
tool that can be used for self-calming and can encourage communication.
Our Pirate Climb
is a great tool to stimulate various
systems in our bodies that they are used to treat many different disorders such
as Autism, ADHD, Asperger’s, and Sensory Integration Disorder.
How should I use them?
The Affordable Therapy Solutions Pirate Climb
should be used with Adult supervision. After making sure it is properly secured
have your child start by grabbing onto a handle and putting they foot on the
bottom then working their way up and down.
As mentioned before communication
can better be developed by periodically stopping the climbing and asking them
if they want to continue. Since it is an enjoyable event they will be more
inclined to find a way to communicate
verbally or non-verbally.
