What is a Scooter Board Ramp?
This was a concept by Jean
Ayres, an occupational therapist
who wrote many books on sensory integration dysfunction (Sensory Integration Disorder). She had many theories and pioneered many of the
tools and equipment used by Occupational Therapist’s today such as the Scooter
Board Ramp.
We have constructed our Scooter
Board Ramp using the same principals she did to get the results. Our Scooter
Board Ramp had adjustable settings allowing for increased or decreased difficulty and
easy storage since in comes apart and can fit almost anywhere.
Who uses them?
At the start Scooter
Board Ramp’s were almost exclusively used in therapy clinics due to
the cost as well as space requirements that they demand. However we at Affordable Therapy Solutions believe in bringing the clinic into your home we found a way to
reduce the cost to affordable prices
as well as reduce the storage size of the Scooter
Board Ramp.
How should I use them?
The Scooter Board Ramp is quite simple; it works to develop the fine motor skills of the child as well as the motor
planning while helping them increase strength. Your child lies on
their stomach on the scooter board and crawls up the ramp by
placing the wooden peg in the slot and moving up one peg at a time. Hand
eye coordination is also a key player in the game and the best part is it’s
so much fun they don’t realize its therapy!
