What is a Trapeze Swing?
A Trapeze Swing
is a tool that many occupational therapists use to address issues
revolving around the vestibular system, visual processing, and proprioception. These swings
are perfect for use in the home and therapy
clinic and for most people theses
are used as the very foundation for Occupational
Therapy.
Here at Affordable
Therapy Solutions we strive to produce the best Trapeze Swings we can they are very durable and can hold up to 150lbs. The Trapeze
Swing is quite simple and allows your child to either swing from holding on
with their hands or knees. This helps to
further develop strength and coordination in anyone who uses it.
Who uses them?
These Trapeze Swings
used to be exclusively available to Therapy
Clinics and Occupational Therapists
due to the high cost and limited availability.
This is no longer the case and we highly encourage the use of it in the home because it’s a great
tool that can be used for self-calming and can encourage communication.
Our Trapeze Swing
is a great tool to stimulate various
systems in our bodies that they are used to treat many different disorders such
as Autism, ADHD, Asperger’s, and Sensory Integration Disorder.
How should I use them?
The Affordable Therapy Solutions Trapeze Swing
should be used with Adult supervision. After
making sure it is properly secured simply have your child grab it with their
hand and swing or with help get their legs up there and swing upside down.
As mentioned before communication
can better be developed by periodically stopping the swinging and asking them
if they want to continue. Since it is an enjoyable event they will be more
inclined to find a way to communicate
verbally or non-verbally.
